Delete Your Koda Account
How to permanently remove your account and associated data.
Koda gives you two ways to delete your account. The fastest is from inside the app. If you no longer have the app installed, you can request deletion by email instead.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (recommended)
- Open Koda on your phone.
- Tap the You tab (bottom right), then tap the gear icon at the top.
- Scroll to the Account section and tap Delete account.
- If you have an active subscription, cancel it first via your App Store or Google Play subscription settings — billing continues until the period ends regardless of account deletion.
- Confirm the warning and tap Delete my account.
Your account is removed immediately. You will be signed out and cannot recover the account.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you cannot reinstall the app, email us from the address tied to your Koda account:
Include the subject line Account deletion request and any Koda username you remember. We will:
- Confirm the request by replying from a Koda address within 72 hours.
- Verify ownership (the request must come from the email tied to the account).
- Delete the account within 30 days of confirmation and email you when it is done.
What gets deleted
- Your email, username, and profile fields (experience level, language, goals, streak, XP).
- Lesson and quiz progress, question history, badges, and activity records.
- Any code snippets you saved in the Lab.
- Notification preferences and device-linked settings.
What is retained briefly
- Subscription / purchase records. Apple and Google retain transaction records independently of Koda. Your subscription itself is managed by the store; we cannot cancel it on your behalf — do so from your App Store or Google Play subscription settings before deleting your account.
- Anonymous diagnostics. Crash logs and aggregated usage data that contain no personally identifiable information may be retained as part of our error monitoring (Sentry).
- Legal / fraud records. If required by law (e.g. tax records related to a purchase), we retain the minimum necessary information for as long as required.
Heads up: deletion is permanent. We do not keep a backup of your account that we can restore later. If you only want a break, you can sign out instead.
